There are many processes a book has to go through before it gets published. An advice on writing, therefore, is for the novelist to focus on completing his or her book first, before dreaming of making a book a best seller. Here are some book writing tips that you have to utilize if you want to write a novel and finish it in a faster manner:

1. Write everyday.

When you’re serious about writing a book, you have to make time for it regularly. In fact, writing a page or two per day is recommended, especially if you want to see it published early. If you only write once a week, or only spend just a few minutes of your time creating your story, then, do not be surprised when you still have an unfinished book even after years of writing. If you follow the above mentioned advice on writing books, specifically writing each day, however, you have a good chance of holding your published book in just a few months’ time.

2. Come up with a good outline for your book.

One of the most important book writing tips is for the writer to create a good outline. When you write a novel, having an organized and comprehensive outline will make it easier for you to write the story, thus, every minute that you spend writing becomes valuable and not put to waste. Outlining a book properly can also help you avoid the so called writer’s block, which is one of the reasons why so many writers take up so much time in completing their novels.

Remember this: A great outline is one that is able to ask various questions such as:

1. What characteristics does your protagonist, antagonist, and other characters have?

2. Where and when is the setting of your story?

3. How does each and every character feel?

4. What is the moral of the story?

Of course, you should be able to answer those questions in a span of several minutes for your task to become easier.

3. Edit only after you’ve written the end of the story.

Editing and proofreading will always be included in book writing tips. Whenever you write a novel, however, an advice on writing that you may not be aware of is that proofreading and editing your work should only be done until you’ve finished the novel. Why? This is because constantly editing in the midst of writing a book only results to an unfinished novel, so it is important that you make all your edits after you’ve reached the end of your novel.

Keep in mind: becoming a successful novelist requires a lot of discipline and determination.
