Up front – articles are really a way to get an edge on the competition. Since you have decided to join the Internet biz for the long haul, you will need to continually seek out and apply many different unique marketing strategies. This will also include a variety of tactics that will set you apart from the crowd.
Positioning and relationship are two prime strategies. And if you consider “article marketing” it really addresses both of these strategies.
Article marketing is not the final word with regard to positioning and relationship building, but it is an excellent first step.
Yes, I know what your thinking! It takes some time, effort and above all the “skill” to write effective articles. There are a number of reasons to think about it. If you are absolutely not good at writing then think about outsourcing.
Here are a couple of reasons, I will cover more later.
** By writing articles you will establish yourself and your company as an expert in the niche you are going to market to.
** Furthermore, as an expert you can increase the price that you charge for whatever you have for sale.
As you continue to increase your library with the top directories like and the distribution channels they other companies utilize which is thousands, you will find that bits and pieces of your articles and sometimes the whole article will be quoted giving you and your author link, credit. This creates a backlink to your site and is what Google loves to justify an increase in the Page Rank of your site.
Once an article is written, it can serve you many different ways other that just the one article being published. Here are some…
** Somebody else may pick up all or parts for content in their newsletter
** The article could be used as a information give away in seminars or other networking events.
** You could combine this articles with others into an eBook format which could be used as bonus for an optin to a mail list.
** Parts may be used by you or others as blog posts
** Parts may be used to start a thread in a forum.
** The article topic could be used with excerpted content in a live teleseminar.
** The list of uses could go on and on
If you stop to think about it, if it is a really excellent, in-depth article and is distributed properly, it could go viral. Distribution is key. Not all article distribution channels are created equal.
There are several “top notch” article distribution directories. They are very strict on original content, but they will distribute your article. This is why the top ones have the reputation as the ones to go to if you are looking for information on a particular topic/subject. Use “article directories” as a search term and you will find more than enough possibilities.
Some charge a fee, but they distribute to thousands of directories. Evaluate them, look for review sites, or maybe try their introductory account before making a decision to spend your money. They normally provide a reports on who where they distribute together with other analytics as to the readership of the article.
Bottom line is articles are an excellent way to stay in touch with customers and prospective customers. You can even start a library category on your blog and list all your articles there. This not only makes it easy for any one that is on your blog to check out the articles that you have published as well.
Articles will create increased interest with your prospects. They will see you as someone that consistently adds value to your product. Information is now KING, so share the knowledge you have acquired with others.
Believe me, you will be shocked when prospects start coming to you like a magnet when you share your knowledge.
