How To Get High Quality Articles Written For Your Website

I have been writing for more years than I care to remember, but have really gotten into the SEO writing within the last couple of years. I have an extensive background in business and marketing and thrive on sharing what I have learned with others. Currently, I am the Manager of Writing for CWT Enterprises.

I have been writing articles for the last 3 years and thought it was time that I took a moment to write to businesses about what exactly makes a high quality article. There are a lot of misconceptions out there that are hurting businesses instead of helping them. So, let’s take a minute to look at what you shouldn’t do and then what you should to ensure your articles are working for you.

Keyword stuff is a big no no! Some believe the more they use a certain word or phrase in an article the more likely it is that a search engine will pull it up as relevant. The problem with this thinking is that content should be your focus, and with keyword stuffed articles content is often compromised in an effort to get that keyword in there numerous times.

We’ve all read articles that read something like this: Party favors for your party can be easy to make with a few party favors from our party favors idea book. Ummm I guess they are selling party favors? When you read an article like that you know right away that it’s not going to have any really helpful content and you move on to the next article. The point of all these articles is to get visitors to your site, so if your article is all fluff and annoying to the reader, it will just be closed and good luck getting that person to visit your site now.

An article that is worth paying for is one that causes the reader to want to know more about or more from your website, thus bringing them to your site. We talked a little about content above, and how it is more important that it is content focused, but there is more to article writing; length, perspective, and purpose are all important. Length should be around 450-750 words, less than 400 and you really aren’t providing the reader with much content, but over 800 and some readers may pass you by for a slightly shorter article.

Perspective is the viewpoint of the writer. Do you want the writer to have personal experience with your product or service, or would you rather the article be more educational, showcasing what your product does from a facts and figures standpoint with little to no personal opinion. And lastly, what’s the purpose of your article? Are you giving advice or tips, or are you expressing a view point, or maybe wanting your article to be a testimonial.

I have been managing the writing department for a large firm for the last year, and have learned a lot outside of my own experience from our Marketing team.
